The ������Ƶ Chamber Orchestra in partnership with the Santa Barbara Symphony Orchestra will perform in the opening event of the Santa Barbara International Guitar Festival, Friday, Feb. 9, at 8 p.m. in Victoria Hall Theatre.

A second performance will be held at El Montecito Presbyterian Church, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 for general admission; students are free.

The performance by ������Ƶ’s 40-member orchestra will include a cameo appearance by the 50-member College Choir, along with guest faculty soloist Patrick Anderson on guitar.

“The concert is made up of predominantly modern music from the 20th century and has a freshness to it,” says Michael Shasberger, ������Ƶ’s Adams professor of music and worship. “It will strengthen the spirit and affirm the soul of listeners.”

The concert will include “Fantasia para un gentilhombre” by Joaquin Rodrigo performed by the guitar and chamber orchestra, Vivaldi’s “Guitar Concerto in D Major,” “Hymn and Fuguing Tune #10” by Henry Cowel, “Hebrides Suite” by Clare Grundman, “How Lovely Are Thy Dwellings” from the Brahms Requiem and a special feature by the ������Ƶ Wind Quintet.
